From the Filmmaker
In just 60 years, India, 'the mother of rice' has lost 90% of its 110,000 indigenous rice varieties. Natabar Sarangi, a retired school teacher has decided to dedicate his life to saving what is left. To date he has managed to re-introduce over 350 varieties, including drought tolerant, flood tolerant and medicinal rice.
Natabar Sarangi is just one of a growing number of farmers throughout the world who realise that we must begin to repair the damage taking place to our agricultural systems and our environment.
