About me:

I am a multidisciplinary artist working in film, music, poetry, and healing therapies. In 2004 I co-produced a show called, "4 Directions" which sought to present and analyze different issues of environmental and social justice using Shamanic principals. Topics included: GMO's, the California prison industry, oil dependence, and democracy.

What excites you about the The Possible Futures Film Contest? What's the most provocative aspect for you?

I can't wait to see what people are going to submit to this contest!! Possible Futures -- it's so optimistic! In a time when news sources are influenced by corporate interests, the oceans and forests and skies are crying out, and people the world over are looking for a better way -- this festival is giving filmmakers a chance to show what is already happening, what could be happening, and what choices we could make collectively to steer this whole earth ship in a better direction. So cool.

Where do you find inspiration? What (or who) gives you hope?

I find inspiration in nature. I know it sounds trite but it's completely true for me. My cat, with his simple routine and predictability, the cycles of my garden, the seasons -- these things comfort me and inspire me to stay true to myself. And what gives me hope is - honestly - organizations like Pachamama Alliance and NRDC which are forwarding nature's needs above corporate greed. Anyone who speaks truth to power inspires me and gives me hope!!

How have stories shaped your life? What story does the world need to tell to shape a just and sustainable life?

I believe stories are the main raw ingredient in shaping any life!! We live in our minds. All of life is told as a story in each of our minds and we typically tell the same ole story over and over again about our family this or the government that. What is so cool about it, though, is that you can change your story -- and change your life. You can re-program the story that you tell inside your mind, and your life will begin to change accordingly. THAT is the story that the world needs to tell -
