Intern with The Possible Futures Film Contest
We are looking for interns to support The Possible Futures Film Contest. You will work with a talented, fun, and excited team out of The Pachamama Alliance‘s office in San Francisco, CA.
Internship Role: Screen Short Films, Editing and Communications for Online Film Contest

Description of Role
The Pachamama Alliance is launching a new online initiative, The Possible Futures Film Contest this Spring. The project launches globally with submissions being accepted March 8th through May 24. A team is being formed to screen all submissions, in four categories, to insure relevance, content and guidelines are met before work goes live online. Filmmakers, novice and experienced will upload short films and all work must be vetted before emerging on the web. This team will be responsible for editing synopsis and reviewing filmmaker profiles to ensure the information is understood and clear.
This Contest Screening Team will be an Online, Content, and Filmmaker Support team and will play a critical role in supporting the blossoming global program by engaging in a variety of tasks to expand, engage, and communicate with our global online emerging communities for the Possible Futures Film Contest.
Details
- Hours: 5 to 15 hours per week at minimum
- Location: 1009 General Kennedy 2nd Floor Presidio, San Francisco, CA 94129 (We prefer for interns to work out of our office in San Francisco, CA, but we are open to interns working remotely)
- Duration: A three (3) month commitment at least is preferred, but is not a deciding factor
- Start date: Immediately
- Payment: These are unpaid volunteer positions
Responsibilities
- Following and insuring guidelines of contest are met
- Communicate quickly and well in verbal and written form in English
- Performing daily routines to engage and grow contests online social communities
- Authoring and implementing content for the contest
- Assisting with the assembling of email communications
- Screening films as needed daily and reviewing all content, each frame without exception before posting content to web
Skills needed
This is an educational internship, so you will learn valuable online marketing and communications skills during the duration of the internship. You will also learn best practices for non-profit online presence, and you will learn basic web support skills. You are not expected to have prior online marketing experience or website building experience. The following skills are preferred:
- Basic knowledge of online social communities
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to tailor messaging to target audiences
- Proficiency with computers and internet
- Desire to take initiative and work independently
